ryzen master is saying memory is clocked at 933mhz when it could be 3200. this bothers me. tried looking stuff up on it, but makes no sense to me or cant find the right thing on it. perhaps this is what it is supposed to be, idk

tried boosting ram through ryzen master, it didn't like it and went back to what it was before automatically after i held the power button down to restart it again. Also, it did some windows update, maybe went back to previous working state or maybe it was installing the ryzen balanced plan i thought i installed. I dont know shit, but ill try again through bios next time. maybe 933mhz is all the mobo will let it do?

Someone else might be able to explain this better, but your actual RAM speed is that number multiplied by the number of channels you're running it in. Are you somehow running a triple or quad channel setup? Because dual channel should be defaulting to 1067 and I can't see why it would run under the default settings. You can take a look in your BIOS too, that'll give you the effective speed in there, and any settings changed there will stick as long as you don't crash before POSTing.

Edit: Yeah it really doesn't look like AM4 goes beyond dual channel, definitely take a look at your BIOS settings.

ryzen master has the slider going up to 1600 so im guessing its duel right now. maybe it needed more voltage. I did try to raise the frequency pretty high and only lifted voltage a little. gonna wait a while though, im in no rush, still have not yet played any games on this lol

Usually you can just set the XMP (technically the Intel name IIRC, but AMD has basically the same thing) profile in your BIOS and it'll work, but AM4 has some growing pains so it might not be so simple. What motherboard did you end up going with?

Edit: And yes, you ABSOLUTELY want your RAM to run at it's rated speed.

Jumped it to 2400 through bios, works alright, gonna jump it up again to 3200, maybe another in between first

3200 and working although the cpu benched lower and lower as i increased frequency on ram, keep in mind the cpu is still on auto for OCing

nvm, cinebench working better than cpuid, openGL went through the roof lol, and cpu did just fine

will check out cpu OC some time in the future

If it's not stable at 3200 you can always try increasing the latency instead. Honestly though, you aren't likely to notice a RAM overclock while gaming, even on a ryzen chip the difference is pretty small.

Unfortunately, RAM overclocking is extremely game-dependent. Some games will be nigh identical, but others you'll get 30%+ more average and minimum framerates. It's definitely worth doing though.

first game on my mind because unity was a stutterfest on my other pc, is AC Syndicate, after that then the new one that just came out, sale or not, need the creed. then i wanna stress the fuck out of this rig and play through quantum break. only if the creed goes super. if not then maybe some overclocking first

for anyone putting steam games on another drive other than default, make the folder, set the folder in steam's settings - downloads, set it as default if you wish, restart steam, if the subfolders arent there, start a download, cancel it, find that common folder and then copy your games. to find them steam needs to start the install of each of those games in that folder and yur all set. slight headache
