  1. 1.)Character Name: Suchpriest
    2.)Character Class: Priest
3.)Which role are you primarily applying for?: Healer
    4.)Armory Profile Link: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/illidan/suchpriest

    5.)Age:25

6.)Please provide us with a link to your WarcraftLogs:

    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/rVLdQB8g36TNYWAw#fight=25&type=healing

7.)Why do you want to join TFB? Why are you searching for a guild, and what expectations do you have?:

Looking to play with my buddy recon. Swapped guilds after us48 jaina to a shorter hour guild and that guild subsequently died. I quit raiding for mythic plus due to lack of motivation from those events, eventually quit mythic plus to play league with recon and friends

8.)Are you easily offended by racist, sexist, or other such humor?

    No

9.)Do you have any friends within TFB? Any enemies?

    Recon
I hate winters and winters hates me but I carry him anyway tell him I said hi to his mom and his boyfriend faggot
I love winters but hes silver elo in league and nobody likes a silver player.
If anyone in your guild is silver elo in league, decline my app.

10.)Do you have any alts worth mentioning?

Resto druid 562~~, able to learn and competitively play any class within 2 to 3 weeks. I would switch off disc if you wanted to gear another class/spec in mythic.

11.)How do you ensure you handle mechanics with the highest success?

I always have weakauras and DBM timers. Not only do I have them, they are in an visible and usable spot on my screen. I sift logs all day long at work once I finish my actual work. I watch videos from different perspectives. I read the boss journal and read the wowhead outline. I read several strat outlines from the guild outputs if they are out (at the rank I play usually they are not typically out by the time we clear it.) I watch world first streams and other applicable streams as available to see the fights and progression in realtime. Finally, I walk into the fight fir the first time and die to something I missed and I fucking scream, wake my girlfriend up, she comes out and asks if I'm okay, I say what are you talking about? You must have been dreaming. Then I check the logs and never die to that shit again.

12.)Why do you play this game? What keeps you motivated to keep coming back for more?

I play video games for rank and competition. I like to win. I like to be skilled. I probably score high on the narcissism scale. I like to win with my friends, but I mostly like to win and be good. Ask my friends.

13.)How do you keep up to date on your class?

I just picked up disc priest 2 weeks ago. I had hardly played it at all in the past. I don't remember exactly the order or process, but I check out wowhead for some basic information, log onto the class and read all the spells, watch videos by people who are actually good at playing the class, analyze logs, actually play the class, and then analyze and compare logs again.

14.)An LGBTQ penguin walks through the door right now wearing a sombrero and demands you use their preferred gender pronouns. What do they say and what do you say back?

I literally built a wall in my house and if you're wearing a sombrero you can fuck right off. 2 weeks ago during quarantine I saw 3 mexican dudes sitting under a tree taking a little siesta across the street. I actually couldn't believe it and I ran inside to tell my girlfriend and I couldn't stop giggling. They were busting ass replacing a roof all day but it was funny to see something that is such a commonly portrayed stereotype in jokes.

15.)What previous raiding experience do you have?

I don't have a list, most notable achievement us 3rd world 6th heroic lich king with Eternal Reign Lightbringer US. Most recently and most applicable, us48 Jaina in a Fused Illidan US, 16 hour week. I've played since TBC

16.)What can we expect from you in our raids?

Extreme effort and complete, absolute focus. I have stated before that I am competitive
while I am downranking to play with friends, and I don't expect you guys to perform or operate the way a 16 or 20 hour guild may, I am still playing to be the best player I can possibly be and improve my ability to learn in the long run.

17.)Despite our 3 day a week raid schedule and having an application that tests your humor, we can be very serious about DPS/HPS, reflexes, and raid attendance. Can you handle this kind of environment?

I think my raid experience says enough about my adaptability, skill, and attitude. Additionally, I have 100% attendance, I take criticism exceptionally well, and apologize and own up when I fuck up.

18.)If there's anything else you want to add; either a self bio, information about friends who may join, or if you simply want us to know something not asked, this is the time to let us know.

i have not actually seen the content this raid. I learn quickly and adapt to strats very well, but its still walking into new content for me. Fortunately you guys are on farm and in a good position to recruit despite that. I'm not used to coming in on farm, I'm used to progging with a guild on fresh content so this is an unusual position for me. I have read and watched encounters, but that only does so much as you are probably aware. Despite this, I have never been dead weight in my life and don't plan to start now. I like and have tuner cars and a large coral reef aquarium. I own a business and work 7 days a week.

19.)TFB has no guarantee that server transfers will be automatically accepted into the guild. Failure to perform at our level or failure to attend raids reliably during your recruitment period can and will result in denial. Do you accept this risk?

    Yes

20.)How did you hear about us?

    Friend/Referral

    Hi there,

so there are a few things that have to be brought up and we need to see how you respond to them before going forward.

First and foremost is the a lot of the ego that seems to be emanating from the application. While we have no problem with good players who know they're good and set out to lead by example, I personally feel like this application takes that potentially too far, to the point I worry about personality issues, conflicts, and an overall net negative to raid atmosphere. Are you the kind of person who's going to get increasingly negative to the raid with when we hit those hard bosses and we're wiping to what always feels like "a few bad apples" in the raid, but at the same time completely shifts the blame on the pulls where you make mistakes? Maybe you never make them, but those players are exceedingly rare.

The second point that has to be brought up is your previous healing team leader experience. We already have someone assigning raid healer CDs and calling for them during the pull. While he has no problem debating the merits of changing CDs around, he's not looking forward to having to butt heads over minutiae when in all seriousness, the important thing is that a raid CD is used at all at the proper times, and the difference between slink and barrier generally aren't going to be what makes or breaks a pull, but more often whether the CD actually happens at the proper time (There's obvious a difference between AM and barrier when a raid can stack vs not, the example used here where two CDs where the raid CAN stack, though). I'm sure he wouldn't mind templates of where we use CDs before we get to bosses, though. Who doesn't like a little less work to do if someone's willing put it forward.

Thirdly, the issue of what you put as "Down ranking". Look, I'm not stupid. I know we're talking about going from US 50 to US 150, but the way you came across in saying it, was less than subtle. It was honestly a little downright insulting. There was probably a better way of putting it but whatever, moving on. The problem we have with this is that whenever we have people make these kinds of applications, it comes off as you're doing US a favor by applying, and we better get in line and kiss your feets. And nine times out of ten, these players are gone long before we get 3/4 through the tier, using the guild as a place to generate logs and leave. Obviously we aren't asking you to pinky swear/promise us you won't leave, but why the change the attitude towards the game? This is the kind of guild you join to get CE (and there's a real chance we could start aiming for HoF if we get slightly more solid base of players, for sure), and then log out and actually play other games, or do arenas and M+ competitively if that's your thing, but we don't aim to give people a second job in terms of raiding. Have you changed your goals for progression raiding, or are you just using us to get some gear, get some logs, and then bounce the moment it's convenient?

Sorry for the essay but I couldn't just throw the trial out without addressing these issues, and NOT giving you a chance to answer these questions and just passing on the app is a dick move.

  3. To answer your first question, I am a very calm, respectful, and generally laid-back person. I make mistakes myself and I am comfortable admitting to them. I have been stuck on plenty of bosses in the past and I am just the same as anyone. I might get tilted sometimes, feel frustrated, or have a thought that the same "apples" are causing all the problems, but I don't lash out or start acting like a dickhead. I try to refocus, get back on track, and help my friends work it out. If I felt like something was going unaddressed and it was my position to try to work on it, I would approach leadership at a reasonable time and ask questions about direction, thoughts, and intentions to see if what I am feeling or thinking is valid, invalid, or potentially unwelcome.

I have no problem following leadership and taking direction. I can help if requested but would just as soon take direction and focus on other priorities. I'm not looking to come here to run, lead, operate, or otherwise fill those positions. Along with my statements about progression and team work, If I feel like there is a major problem, I will bring it up respectfully and I will bring it up in private, after raid, or in an otherwise appropriate setting and time. I have had disagreement in the past where I felt like I was having my toes stepped on (both myself and counterpart in leadership), partially justifiable and partially my own fault, no doubt. I always try to work things out with people and I own up and apologize if myself or others feel that I was in the wrong. I took that situation and always try to take other situations as a learning experience and a step towards maturity.

How come I am changing my priorities? My buddies and I are looking to push mythic plus. I do have an offer for a mid-40s guild which I could take up, but I have taken preference in this opportunity and to ask for your interest so I could play with my friends. I want to continue to raid at a respectable level and clear the most difficult content. If you decide you are not interested, my next likely route will be to keep my priest horde to raid and swap another character to alliance to be able to rank in mythic plus. I'd rather not have to do that and I'd like to make it work here!

Finally, I truly did not mean to come across as arrogant and I did not mean to insult you. I apologize that I have made you or anyone in your guild feel insulted. In the application, I started to step into what I thought was humorous territory without realizing that it didn't really translate through the screen (specifically the league of legends ranking statement and the winning with friends garbage). I recognize that everyone plays at different levels of skill, experience, and time. Overall, I did want to come off in the application as a skilled and focused person, and I do believe I am skilled. Despite that, there are always things for me to improve on. I believe I would be a major asset to your guild and your raid team; if I did not believe so then why should you be interested in bringing me on? I would appreciate a position in your guild because it would allow me to relax a little in the raid environment and give me an opportunity to spend more time focusing on mythic plus and other real life interests. I may have only made slight hints to my intentions, and in hindsight I should have addressed a few things differently and fleshed out my intentions, but I didn't see your perspective. I don't believe that I am too good for your guild and I am not trying to ride a high horse into your guild. My expectations and my hopes are to join your guild and prove that I'm good enough to stay.

I'm more than happy to answer further questions and also join you in voice if you're interested. I appreciate your time and I thank you for giving me the opportunity to address your concerns. I look forward to working together in the future.

Hokay, those are better answers than I was expecting (of course I was also 1/4 expecting a "go fuck yourself" so i set a pretty low bar)

Whenever you'd like to join our merry band of autists, and Winters/Recon, find one of our /o in game and pester them relentlessly until they /ginvite.

Ready to see some bigdick HPS, and someone that can talk Recon off a bridge when we're failing.
